It's important that your boat has a set of oars whether it's for regular use or emergency back up. Drift boats require oars while drifting down the river current with a rower controlling the speed. If you plan to use oars on a regular basis for river fishing it would be worth looking into some oar locks. If you don't plan to use oars as your main source of maneuvering around it is still recommended to have a set of oars or paddles for an emergency backup.
